Owned by local identity Hilary Pedersen Purple Fish offers the attractive ‘Sea Room’ and ‘Sand Room’. Each has an en suite, a fridge/freezer, plug in cooking facilities, television and opens onto a deck. The larger ‘Sea Room’ has a king size bed and is more self contained with kitchen sink and microwave. Two single mattresses can offer limited on floor sleeping. The ‘Sand Room’ has double bed sleeping only.   Linen, china, basic grocery items are provided.

Hilary also has a small gallery featuring her own ‘Baamade’ felt pieces and hand knits along with locally made flax kete, hand painted cushions and cards.

Enjoy the weathered ambience, friendly, informal environment and a wild ‘weeds, seeds and paths’ garden.

Take time out for long walks on an isolated beach, explore the surrounding coast and the countryside. Or just read a book.

Nine hole golf course nearby, Duke of Edinburgh Hotel and historic St Michael and All Angels Church just 5kms away at Porangahau village.

Purple Fish is ideal for summer fun or a secluded winter getaway. Writing, painting or studying? Longer stays welcomed, both rooms available.
