Porangahau has its own local Community Policeman Senior Constable John Singer and Police Station

The Station and Police residence is located in the Village directly opposite the Hotel.

John and his wife Linda (who is a local ambulance driver) have lived in the community for 13 years.  They both enjoy the great hunting and fishing that the area has to offer.

John is also the Secretary of The Fire Brigade and responsible for Marine Search & Rescue for Te Paerahi Beach and the surrounding coastal area.
